Members of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Delta State chapter, on Wednesday gathered together at the Faculty of Law and Engineering, Delta State University, Abraka, Oleh Campus.
The purpose of the gathering was to celebrate one of their own along with members of the academic community of DELSU during the swearing in of a new Provost for the Faculty of Law and Engineering, Delta State University, Abraka, Oleh Campus Prof. Elo Ibagere.
Ibagere who is a professor of law is a strong member of the CDHR, Abraka unit and a rallying point of the unit and the state at large.
The Delta State CDHR delegation was led on the trip by its Chairman, Chief A. P. Edariese and Secretary, Comrade Israel Joe .
There were other members from various units of the organization in the state including the host unit, Abraka Unit led by its Coordinator, Comrade Andrew Umurhurhu and coordinators from other units in the state.
In his welcome speech, the new provost, who was full of happiness praised God for making his election successful.
He used the occasion to thank everyone who came from far and near to participate in celebrating with him in his new position and asked that all should pray for him to succeed as, according to him, it is by that that he he can make an impact in his new assignment and in the society.

In his remarks, the leader of the CDHR delegation, Comrade Edariese used the opportunity to extol the good qualities and capacity of Prof. Ibagere which helped to throw him up for his new position and his efforts at promoting CDHR in Abraka.
The CDHR chairman called on the university community, the family of the new provost, his friends and wellwishers to give the professor their maximum support to enable him to succeed for the good of the university community in particular and the society in general.
The state chairman also commended the Abraka unit coordinator, Comrade Andrew Umurhurhu whose leadership
brought the professor into the organization to serve humanity in human rights activism.
In his remarks, the Abraka Unit Coordinator, Comrade Andrew Umurhurhu, thanked God for making the unit to produce the Provost for the Faculty of Law and Engineering of Delsu, Oleh Campus.
In response, the celebrant praised the management team of his school, who considered him worthy of the position, the entire university community, members of his family, friends, well-wishers and members of the CDHR Nigeria for making the event a huge success.He promised not to dissappoint any one throughout his tenure and beyond.He extended his appreciation to the National President of CDHR, Nigeria, Comr. Dr. Osagie Obayuwana and the entire leadership of the organization represented by eminent Nigerians who include Femi Falana (SAN) as the Chairman, Board Of Trustees (BOT).
The ceremony ended with a closing prayer by Venerable Emeni, the Chaplain of Obiaruku Diocese of Anglican Communion, Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State.
