Taliban, US Hold Talks

Officials of the Taliban government in Afghanistan and the United States officials have held talks .

The Afghan government represented by a team led by acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with a U.S. interagency delegation in Doha, Qatar.

On Monday, the Taliban said talks with America would continue if necessary.

“The two-day dialogue between the delegations of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and the United States of America went well”, a statement read.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry disclosed that “political issues were discussed in detail”.

The parley also deliberated the full implementation of the Doha agreement considered by the Islamic Emirate as the best way for resolving problems.

The Taliban revealed that the U.S. representatives announced that America would provide humanitarian assistance to Afghans and facilities for other humanitarian organisations to deliver aid.

“Detailed discussions were held during the meeting about all relevant issues. And efforts should be exerted to restore diplomatic relations to a better state.

“The meeting in which talks were candid was considered a good opportunity of understanding”, the statement added.

The IEA promised to cooperate with groups in delivering humanitarian assistance and would facilitate the “principled movement of foreign nationals.”

It was the first in-person gathering between the Taliban and the United States since troop withdrawal and Afghanistan takeover in August.

The longest-lived president in United States of America, Jimmy Carter, is dead.
This was made known in a statement by the Carter Center and signed by his son Chip Carter on Sunday.

It reads, “My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love,” said Chip Carter, the former president’s son.

“My brothers, sister, and I shared him with the rest of the world through these common beliefs. The world is our family because of the way he brought people together, and we thank you for honoring his memory by continuing to live these shared beliefs.”

President Carter is survived by his children — Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy; 11 grandchildren; and 14 grea-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalynn, and one grandchild.

The Director General of the World Health Organization, WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has revealed how he escaped death by a whisker on Thursday from a deadly Israeli air strikes on an airport in Yemen’s Huthi rebel-held capital.

The Ethiopian-born public health expert who said his ears were still ringing from the effect of the bang, stated this during an interview on BBC radio on Saturday.

Tedros, 59, disclosed that the first missile struck the departure lounge of the airport next to where him and his colleague were seated before another brought down the control tower.

Narrating his near death experience, he said, “We heard a heavy explosion nearby, and then I think repeated. The sound was so, so loud… So deafening, actually. Still my ear rings. It’s already more than 24 hours now. I don’t know if it affected my ear. The explosion was so heavy.

“It was the departure lounge next to us that was hit, and later on the control tower.

“It was very chaotic. People were in disarray and running everywhere and no shelter: we were completely exposed.

“It’s a matter of luck. Otherwise, if the missile deviated just slightly, it could have been on our heads… my colleague actually said after all that, we escaped death narrowly.”
