Why I Attempted Suicide In 2018 - Real Warri Pikin

By John Michael Ojo
Popular Nigerian comedienne, Anita Asuoha,  better known as Real Warri Pikin, has disclosed  how she almost committed suicide over financial challenges some years ago.

The comedienne stated this in a recent interview with  media personality, Chude Jideonwo, on his podcast  #WithChude where  she revealed how she was taken to three different hospitals before she regained consciousness.

Real Warri Pikin added that her failed suicide attempt became an inspiration for her comedy brand as she began telling people to always see the brighter side of life irrespective  of their circumstances through her content.

She said: “In 2017/2018 I had issues. Actually, I and my husband had issues, financial issues because we were in debt and everything. Then, I attempted suicide on June 6, 2018, but I didn’t die.

“Then they carried me to three different hospitals. In the last hospital when I woke up, I was like so I didn’t die? That means God didn’t want me to die so I can use my story to heal people.

“Then I told God that I was going to use my story to heal people because I felt like he didn’t allow me to die because he wanted my story to touch people’s lives,

“To me, it wasn’t a story that I was supposed to keep to myself and I knew the fastest way to do it was online.

“Then I had a small itel phone which I used. If you check, all the videos I did then weren’t comedy to make people laugh but comedy to motivate people. I was always like even if you’re owing debt, the federal government is also owing debt, so you don’t need to kill yourself.

“Just take it one day at a time. So I think those things helped me heal because things I was supposed to tell myself, I was telling people,” she added.

The now viral post reads: “In the presence of my family, kinsmen, friends, and my in-laws from Onitsha, I gave out my lovely daughter, Ifeatu Adaora Soludo, to her heartthrob after all traditional rites had been met and certified in line with the customs of the Isuofia community.

“I celebrate this historic event for two reasons. First, God has graciously blessed the larger Soludo family with another such marital union after 142 years.

“This is largely due to the fact that female children have been a rarity in the past three generations of the Soludo family.

“To break that “jinx,” God has mercifully provided me with four beautiful daughters, whom I celebrate every day,” he added.
