Published

By Daniel Anazia

As the highly anticipated Season 8 of Big Brother Naija returned on Sunday with an unexpected twist that sent waves of excitement through the housemates and viewers alike, it is another round of three-month entertainment with fun-filled and endless parties.

Dubbed ‘All Star Season: The Biggieverse’, the housemates (fans favourites) were carefully selected from previous editions of the show: See Gobe (2017), Double Wahala (2018), Pepper Dem (2019), Lockdown (2020), Shine Ya Eye (2021) and Level Up (2022) to battle one another to win the ₦120 million cash, among other prizes at stake.

For this season, which is also dubbed ‘The Return or Second Chance’, the 20 housemates unveiled and in the luxurious Big Brother (Biggie’s) House tucked somewhere in Lagos include Cynthia Nwadiora (Cee-C); Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David (Doyin) and Terseer Waya (Kiddwaya), who were the first-three housemates to be introduced into the house.

Others are Chukwuemeka Okoye (Frodd), Uriel Anita Ngozi Oputa (Uriel), Pere Egbi (Pere), Princess Francis (Princess), Somadina Anyama (Soma), Agnes Angel Smith (Angel), Emuobonuvie Neo Akpofure (Neo), Alexandra Amuchechukwu Asogwa (Alex), Precious Odiniya (Ilebaye), Steve Ikechukwu Onyema (Ike); Venita Akpofure (Venita), Adekunle Tobilola Olopade (Adekunle), Tolani Shobajo (Tolani Baj or Tbaj), Oluwaseyi Awolowo (Seyi) and Ikechukwu Sunday Okonkwo (Cross),

The joyous reunion was an explosive cocktail of emotions, laughter, and an overwhelming sense of pride. Not only did Biggie bring back previous housemates, but he also brought back previous winners: Mercy Eke (Mercy), and Hazel Oyeze Onou (Whitemoney) who was the last to be introduced to the house.

As the housemates stepped into the house, their jaws dropped as they saw some of their favourite previous housemates standing before them. The mixture of surprise and elation was evident on their faces, making for an unforgettable moment.

Soma, known for his cheerfulness, couldn’t contain his excitement as he lifted CeeCee off her feet, spinning her around in pure joy. This spirited welcome set the tone for what would become an evening of unforgettable memories. He did not hold back on the compliments either, even telling Doyin how ‘fine’ she was.

It was giving reunion vibes as if old friends were reuniting after years of separation. The camaraderie between the old housemates and the recent ones was heartwarming, and so was the intensity.

Even the quiet moments of some housemates like CeeCee and Whitemoney didn’t dampen the energy of the house, as they were seen taking it all in from the sidelines, whilst they grabbed a bite to eat and acclimatised after a long day. They quickly jumped back into the swing of things and mixed and mingled.

At some point, an energetic Uriel who had been working the room, found a quiet space and took a breather while holding her ‘heavy dress’. As soon as she had caught her breath, she was back in the mix.

While the housemates turned up for the season’s game challenge in sassy glam outfits, some were exceptional. Mercy proved that she was the real star with her stunning outfit. Also, Whitemoney and Frodd told whoever cared that they are indeed true Igbo sons proud of their culture, as they turned up like titled chiefs from the eastern region.

As a former US Army officer, Pere turned up dressed in a military ‘General’s’ regalia, just as most of the female contestants shimmered in their slit dinner gowns. Whitemoney who was the last to be introduced had a gallant entry with Flavour’s Game Changer hit.

Biggie’s Bombshell – Open Nomination

While everyone was getting reacquainted, Biggie in his usual characteristic manner came over the house speakers and asked the housemates to gather in the lounge. As expected, he got the niceties out of the way and gave the housemates a warm welcome, then proceeded to drop a bombshell that was sure to raise the stakes and cause a bit of unsettling among the housemates.

This season, the housemates are allowed to openly discuss nominations. This changes the game, because it opens the housemates up to creating possible alliances that may have a big impact on the game, and also forces them to relook the strategies they came into the house with.

Living in the luxurious Biggie’s house can never be overlooked. As the housemates settled in and the night progressed, they allocated beds to themselves. Mercy, known for her no-nonsense attitude, had her eyes on a bed that was not too close to the air conditioner, fearing it might make her sick.

In true royalty style, she wanted to be allocated two hangers, but Doyin was not having it, and pleaded with her to give up one as she did not have a hanger.

The coming together of housemates from different seasons under one roof seems to be a gathering of like-minded individuals as they all share the same passion for the game and the memories it created.

The connection between the housemates transcends their seasons, bringing together a unique bond that only they could understand; this is not their first adventure in the Biggie’s house.

As Biggie gradually unfold his many twists in this year’s edition of the reality show, there is doubt the housemates are in for surprises that would forever change their idea and dynamics of the game, while ardent followers of the show will be glued to their seats and TV sets as their favourite housemates form and build alliances to outwit strong contenders to win the prize money.

Having watched one another as fellow housemates or as viewers outside the house, the housemates are set to give followers of the show a dose of overwhelming entertaining moments via drama, intrigue, suspense, love, fights amid heated conflicts, heartwarming friendships, and more for the next 72 days that the show will be exclusively broadcast on DStv channels.

The Tasks, The Parties, The Evictions
From engaging tasks to unpredictable twists and turns, fan-favourite ‘Ninjas’, ever-flowing array of food and drinks, infamous pool and grill party, and the Saturday night raves, viewers are up for another round of thrills and spills in the house.

It’s no news that the mystery Big Brother (Biggie), custodian of the Big Brother House (whether it’s BBAfrica, BBNaija or recently introduced BBTitan) knows how to throw a good party, as he often engage rave making disc jockeys (DJs) who keep the house jazz up with rave of the moment song selections that leave even viewers dancing at home.

Every year, Biggie introduces new twists to his ‘Biggieverse’. This season, the unseen but constantly heard Biggie is introducing a new spin to the Monday Head of House (HoH) games. No one knows the details yet, until the season’s first challenge later today at 7p.m.
If the game is anything like the former HoH game, it will make or break housemates’ strategy and affect their time in the house. Usually, the winner of the HoH challenge is rewarded with a personal executive room with a chosen partner of the opposite sex, immunity from the week’s nominations and veto power to save and replace housemates.
Biggie dedicates Tuesdays and Wednesdays for Diary Room session, where housemates talk openly to him about the events of the house, the competitions, other housemates, alliances, strategies, and other comments.

The session, often emotional, is an entry into housemates’ hearts where they either connect with Biggie and the viewers or gather a group of haters. Hence, it plays a great role in terms of the fan base a housemate gathers.
Apart from being exciting to watch, tasks are an essential part of the housemates’ journey in the show. Expectedly, Tuesdays to Saturdays are for daily tasks in the house. Hence, there may be bland moments for housemates to stay in their circles.

The tasks and presentations force them to come out of their shells and interact. It allows for possibilities where people become friends after they connect during an activity or enemies because they clashed.

Thursday night Pool and Grill Party which is infamous for being the underlying cause of every formed ship, triangle or sex scandal, is a major highpoint of the show. It helps housemates get a mid-week reprieve and treat from tasks and wager drama, as they let loose, show off their banging bodies in bikinis and swimwear, eat barbecue, try some hanky-panky, and drink to their heart’s content.
In the history of the show, feelings tend to heighten after a splash in the Jacuzzi pool. Don’t be surprised when you see shocking vibes, ships emerge, it must be something in the water! In all the seasons, the Saturday Night Parties, Biggie picks a theme and gifts the housemates’ stylish attire, which they adorn to whine and swing their bodies at the in-house party arena all night, with a selected A-list DJ and the guest artiste performer sometimes.

Viewers often look forward to the aftermath of the party, as there is piping hot tea, drama and gist from housemates who oftentimes are dazed with alcohol.
The show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, takes centre stage on Sundays with his table shaking and scattering questions, as he asks critical questions viewers want answers to, takes fans on a recap of the week, and in most cases, sends home at least one housemate who have the least votes per week.

To keep their favourite housemate in the game till the final day, fans must take advantage of the tiered voting on the MyDStv and MyGOtv. Voting is also available on the Africa Magic mobile and website.

Fans of the show across Africa, the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland are sure to catch every bit of the happenings in the Biggie’s house on Showmax which is streaming it live. This is a new feat in comparison with the seven previous editions.
Speaking on the streaming arrangement, the Corporate Communications Manager Showmax, Jennifer Ukoh, said the streaming service will feature a dedicated row for BBNaija content: from the 24-hour live feed to the popular segments such as the daily highlights, Saturday night parties, Head of House challenge and the Sunday eviction shows, making it easy for customers to watch and enjoy the different parts of the show.

Commenting on their sponsorship of the show, mobile phone manufacturing giant, Tecno Mobile, represented by its Marketing Manager, Thompson Ani said, “As a brand committed to supporting and empowering the dreams of young Nigerians, Tecno is proud to be part of the Big Brother Naija sponsorship.
“This strategic partnership aligns with our mission to stop at nothing in fostering opportunities and inspiring the next generation of talents. Being associated with BBN provides a platform for us to connect with millions of viewers, and we are thrilled to witness the journey of these extraordinary individuals as they chase their dreams and create a lasting impact on society.”

Barely eight months after their extravagant wedding took place in Lagos State, popular Nigerian disc jockey, Kudirat Gbemisola better known as DJ Kulet, has announced an end of the union between herself and her husband, Ohis Emmanuel.

DJ Kulet who stated this in a lengthy post on her Instagram handle on Monday, accused her ex husband of infidelity. She alleged that her now ex husband molested a minor in their matrimonial home for six months during the course of their marriage.

She said: “I’m publicly disassociating myself from my ex husband, Ohis Emmanuel (aka Benjamin) @hemmarsnoop due to his egregious & reprehensible actions.

“Despite overwhelming evidence including chats, photos, videos, and voice notes of his infidelity, he has refused to change his ways.

“The final straw was the shocking discovery of his prolonged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old minor which occurred under my roof for six months.

“Previously, I had forgiven him after he shifted the blame for his infidelity to external influences, unaware of the extent of his abuse.

Kanayo Gives Reason Why Most Ladies Are Unmarried At 30+

Published

By John Michael Ojo

Veteran Nollywood actor and entrepreneur, Anayo Modestus Onyekwere professionally known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, has blamed the singleness of most ladies on the choices they made in their prime.

The 62-year-old lawyer and movie producer who stated this in a recent interview with News Central, alleged that most ladies who are still unmarried in their 30s, spent most of their prime dating older men who were married while rejecting the advancement of young prospective suitors.

According to Kanayo, “Some girl will be in the university at 18, 19, 20, she starts dating a very rich guy, sometimes, very old too. Then what you see along the line is that because the guy is very rich and probably married, she refuses the advances of other younger people because the guy has either gotten her a car and a house. So to her, she’s operating on a very high level.

“From 22, she goes on to 24 and maybe even if she quarrels with this guy, she gets the next guy. And before you know it, she turns 25, 26 unmarried because she refuses the advances of younger prospective husbands. She gets into 29, 30, by that time she had left the university and men are no longer finding her that attractive.

“So she gets into 31, husband is not coming. And what do you have? At 23, she’s a flex. At 28, she becomes a prayer point. After 33, she’s declared a state of emergency. Because husbands will not come at that level of 33 years. Some of them get to 35 unmarried. And they still think that they are having fun. They are not having fun. They are now in a state of emergency praying that God brings anyone.”

Soludo Reveals How Daughter’s Marriage Broke 142 Years Family Jinx

By John Michael Ojo

The governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has revealed that the traditional marriage ceremony held on Saturday between his daughter Ifeatu Adaora Soludo and Arinze Ibekwe in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, was the first of its kind among the Soludo’s family.

The elated former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and a father of four girls, who stated this in a post via his verified Facebook account said the birth of female children had been a major challenge in the family until he was blessed by God through four of such beautiful children.

The now viral post reads: “In the presence of my family, kinsmen, friends, and my in-laws from Onitsha, I gave out my lovely daughter, Ifeatu Adaora Soludo, to her heartthrob after all traditional rites had been met and certified in line with the customs of the Isuofia community.

“I celebrate this historic event for two reasons. First, God has graciously blessed the larger Soludo family with another such marital union after 142 years.

“This is largely due to the fact that female children have been a rarity in the past three generations of the Soludo family.

“To break that “jinx,” God has mercifully provided me with four beautiful daughters, whom I celebrate every day,” he added.
