Yes, I had A Baby Through Surrogacy - Ini Edo

Nollywood Actress Ini Edo has confirmed a report that she has got a baby through surrogacy. She spoke in an interview with journalist and blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus.

Confirming the development, Ini Edo said: “Yes I do have a daughter and I had her through surrogacy. The eggs are mine and so genetically she’s my blood. I chose this path to fulfil my dream of becoming a mother.

I still have a good number of eggs frozen in case I decide to do surrogacy again or carry my baby myself, who knows.”

She said she opted for a donor for ” me and my baby’s peace of mind. Another major reason I opted for a donor is because it scares me so much when I see banter and controversies between a mother and a father over a baby in public forums or when I see the man insisting he wants his child if things dont work out between both parties.. For me it’s the fear of what that would mean for the child .Ideally, it’s marriage then children but we are not living in an ideal world.

“I am not someone who allows any situation to control me. I make lemonades out of lemons thrown my way and have no regrets. Life itself is so fragile and short to be striving for perfection. I am well and capable of taking care of my own child as I’ve been taking care of myself .I wanted a child and thank God for the options of surrogacy and donors..”

On why she herself did not break the news, she said she was not avoiding talking about it. She also said that the alleged father of the child was not the right person.

“No I was not, I was hoping to talk about her on her 1st birthday in a few months but mischief makers beat me to it and spoilt the beautiful story with lies. The sad thing about this is dragging an innocent man into something that has absolutely nothing to do with him.

“I naturally make friends better with guys than women.. I do have a few female friends don’t get me wrong but I relate better with people who are older and way more experienced in life than I am. I relate with people who bring real value to my life .How many people can one possibly date? I have loads of male friends, most of them, I am friends with their entire family including wives .

“It is so sad that in Nigeria, when a ‘single’ woman is friends with a guy, it must mean to people that they are dating ..I mean make it make sense, Kome has been my friend for years and that’s what it is, period. He is a responsible family man and doesn’t deserve to be dragged into my motherhood story…… Anyone saying that he is the father of my daughter is a lie from the pit of hell,” she said.

She explained surrogacy, noting that the process is very expensive.

Her words : “Surrogacy process is quite expensive, and starts with the stimulation process ,egg retrieval and insemination on the chosen surrogate which in my case was all handled strictly by the hospital.”

On her she feels as a mother, she said “It is an awesome feeling and experience and as I watch my daughter grow every day, I am in awe of the miracles that God has sent my way and I am so thankful and grateful to be my daughter’s mother.”

Ini Edo said she would happily recommend this route for all women trying to conceive naturally but finding it difficult.

“I would recommend surrogacy for any one having difficulty conceiving …I had a series of miscarriages in the past but that wasn’t my reason for going this route .I still hope to carry babies In my womb in the future, God willing,” she noted.

But while the actress is a celebrity whose face is easily recognisable in the public, she said she was not ready to expose her daughter to her colleagues and on the social media .

“I really hope to keep my baby off the social media , and this was why I’ve been reluctant putting her out there. I would love to keep everything about her private for now. There are a lot of celebrities whose children are not growing up on the social media pages and living normal lives.. That is how I want it to be for my daughter… it is a choice to put her out there or not and I choose to keep her private”, she said.

But while Ini Edo loves children, she is not ready to get married.

She said: ” Right now, marriage isn’t my priority, I’ve been married before and it wasn’t exactly a bed of rosesoses. Marriage is a good thing instituted by God and ultimately most people’s desire but I am not just crazy about the distractions and the complications that come with it.. I am not against it though…

“I’m in the phase of taking care of my child and focusing my positive energies on motherhood and my running businesses. This is all I have time for right now and shun all negative news or energy…..”

Ebuka who acknowledged the impact of Moses Bliss in his career growth said, “I will always be grateful for Moses Bliss’ role in my life because as at that time, I had the anointing and gift but i don’t know how to go about it professionally.

“I am grateful for the journey that I have been through but at this point now, the next level is to focus on my ministry. And we are in our good space.

“The reason why I kept quiet about my exit or say anything since that time is because I don’t want it to generate more conversations. We all get to the point where we just want to be focused on the next phase of our lives, and because of the assignment of God upon my life.”

Chris Oyakhilome Reveals Why Sinach, Frank Edward, Eben, Others Left Church

Published

By John Michael Ojo

The founder of Love Word Ministry popularly known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has stated that his ministry parted ways with popular Nigerian gospel singer including multiple award-winning singer,Osinachi Kalu Okoro Egbu, professionally known as Sinach, when the later began to deviate from the purpose of God’s calling and the church principles.

Oyakhilome who referred to the music ministers as ‘professional’ singers said Sinach alongside her counterparts were only concerned about showing off their talents to the world instead of glorifying God.

He said they became entertainers milking churches, chasing after money while neglecting prayers  once they were done performing.

Oyakhilome who said he was once in support of their actions, said he tried to change the narrative as soon as he realized his misdeeds but being blinded by the popularity they have gained and the monies that was coming into their pockets, the singers became adamant and soon left  his church.

Oyakhilome who stated this in a now viral video however, prayed that the singers realize their mistakes and repent.

He said: “Why did this happen? The church was turning into a place of entertainment rather than a house of prayer where God’s word was truly celebrated. These singers were not winning souls; they led praise but left when it was time for prayers.

“The music in the church started to change—it became worldly. They performed for themselves, celebrated themselves instead of God, and even began charging fees for their singing.

“They became professionals who made money from the church, and many pastors did not realize that this was how the world was creeping into the church.

“Initially, I celebrated them, but when I made a shift toward a different direction, they refused to change with me. That’s when I had to let them go. God was speaking to me, showing me this was not the right path.

“I told them the Lord wanted us to do things the right way, but they had become too focused on their newfound popularity and financial gains.

“They didn’t want to follow me anymore, so they chose a different path. I hope they find their way back and repent because they are no longer worship leaders.”
